Scope of Services 

 

  • What I Can Do:
    • Provide guidance and support to help families understand and navigate how their child with a disability is educated. 
    • Offer expertise on IDEA law and accommodations/modifications for children with disabilities.
    • Support families in preparing for IEP meetings and collaborating with school teams.
    • Educate parents on their child’s rights and available resources.
  • What I Cannot Do:
    • Provide legal advice or represent clients in legal proceedings.
    • Guarantee specific outcomes from school meetings, programs, or services.
    • Act as a school official or replace the role of other licensed professionals (e.g., psychologists, therapists).
    • I do not provide psychological, therapeutic, or medical services. 
  • Client Responsibilities: 
    • Providing accurate and complete information about their child’s educational history and needs.
    • Being active participants in meetings and decision-making processes.
    • Following through on agreed-upon action plans or next steps.
  • Travel Policy
    • I am happy to provide in-person support for families, schools, or meetings within a designated travel range.
    • Mileage will be charged at the standard IRS rate ($0.67 per mile as of 2024) for round-trip distances exceeding 20 miles.
    • Extended travel time (more than 1 hour round trip) may be billed at an hourly rate discussed and agreed upon in advance.
  • Payment and Refund Policy
    • Payment is due prior to services unless otherwise agreed upon. 
    • For ongoing services, invoices must be paid within 7 days of issue. 
    • Accepted Methods: Credit Card (fees may be applied), ACH electronic payment, or paper check
    • Refunds will not be provided after services have been delivered. Pre-paid services canceled in advance may be refunded minus any expenses incurred (e.g., travel).

 

 

 Code of Conduct

 

I strive to create a professional, supportive, and respectful environment. I expect:

  • Respectful and professional communication at all times.
  • Mutual understanding that advocacy is a collaborative process requiring trust and shared effort.

If communication or behavior becomes unproductive, I reserve the right to terminate services.

 

 

 Communication Policy

 

I am available during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM CST) for phone calls, emails, and virtual meetings.

  • Response time for emails and messages is typically within 24 hours during business days.
  • Urgent issues will be handled as promptly as possible.

While I provide educational consulting services to help you advocate for your child, I am not a licensed attorney, therapist, or medical professional. I do not provide legal advice, nor can I represent you in any legal matters. The information and guidance I offer are based on my professional experience and expertise in the special education field.

I respect your privacy and will handle all personal and educational information with strict confidentiality.

  • Information shared during our sessions or consultations will not be shared with third parties without your written consent, except as required by law.
  • Digital records, notes, and communications will be stored securely.
