Meet the Special Needs Parent Coach

When my son was a baby, he lost his hearing. Thus began my journey as a mother of a child with special needs.

As time went on, other needs were identified. I found myself learning new skills, educating myself on the issues, and taking on a myriad of new roles. All this while still trying to maintain all my other roles and responsibilities.

In my "previous life" as a public school teacher, I'd sat in plenty of meetings with colleagues, administrators, and of course the worried parents. Now, I was the parent in the meetings. It certainly gave me a new perspective!

Despite my impossibly hectic new life, I felt myself growing and stretching in ways I couldn't have imagined. My son with special needs opened up new worlds to me and brought me countless blessings. As I got to know other parents of children with special needs, I saw the amazing transformations we were all experiencing.

But at what cost? Many of these same parents told me about pressures they were feeling from all sides, and how every part of their life had been affected. I formed a conviction that parenting a child with special needs should not have to be so overwhelming.

I've been incredibly fortunate over the years to have the support, encouragement, and enthusiasm of support groups, devoted teachers, and dedicated professionals. When the time came for me to return to work, I knew I wanted to do something to make life better for parents of children with special needs.

Now, equipped with a Master's Degree in Education from Harvard University, extensive life coach training and certification, and most importantly, years of experience with a son with special needs, I help parents of children with special needs navigate complex lives, gain balance and confidence, and make room for the joy that is rightfully theirs as parents.
